BEAMS is a celebration of light in some key physical and metaphysical forms - from non-human animals in “Paw Prints” to plants in “Cypress”, from childhood in “Acalantando” to liberty in “Encaminho” and contemplation in “Viewscapes”, from the urban in “Sparks of Motion” to the rural in “Então”, as well as the celestial in “Beams” and “Stardial”.
In the liner notes, Randy Brecker writes: "The conversations and interactions between musicians and genres is amazing...a lot of lovely, heartfelt, emotional, music."

Dan Costa records “Skyness” at Arte Suono studios in Italy, an invitation to outer harmony and inner peace. It features sax player Seamus Blake, flute player Teco Cardoso, bassist Jorge Helder and Portuguese guitarist Custodio Castelo as well as guitarists Nelson Faria, Romero Lubambo and Bossa Nova icon Roberto Menescal, paying homage to the style on its 60th anniversary. The album takes the listener on a journey inspired by the sky and its unifying strength, reflecting ideals of open-mindedness and embracing European classical music, American Jazz, Brazilian music, Portuguese Fado and Spanish Flamenco. It is also an ode to the idyllic Cycladic islands in Greece, where most of the tracks were written.

Recorded in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, jazz/world music album Suite Três Rios
recaptures the essence of Brazilian rhythms, with shades of classical music. In line with the rich natural diversity that inspired most of the tracks, the name reflects the confluence of the Solimões and Negro Rivers in the
Amazon Rainforest - the Encontro das Águas - where two rivers meet without changing their colour, their essence. It also hints at Dan Costa’s own background, born in London to a Portuguese and Italian family.
